Just steps away from Sloan’s lake, this charming craftsman bungalow was completely transformed while also highlighting unique historical features.

• The floor plan of this home was completely flipped and brought into a more modern standing: the kitchen changed rooms, the wall between the kitchen and the living room was demoed, and the master bedroom and master bathroom were enlarged.

• The original brickwork — which was covered by plaster — was exposed along the entire span of the main living area.

• Unique handmade details were utilized throughout, such as with the brass hardware, faucet, ceramic tile backsplash, and pendant lights.

Inset shaker cabinetry, in a custom color true to the original era of the home, is featured in the new kitchen. No detail was overlooked when configuring the cabinetry: the island size was maximized so it felt substantial in the space but also left room for seating and two walkways, the upper cabinets flanking the range were installed to be “floating” as opposed to tight against the range hood, beaded paneling was used on the island and the upper cabinetry, and every utensil was mapped out for the homeowners to ensure the right number of drawers, rollouts, and cabinets were used.

Only two slabs of white quartz countertops were needed, which helped keep countertop costs down to balance out the higher costs of the investment pieces such as the faucet, hardware, and ceramic tile backsplash.
